They don't seem like they want to stand out very often. In my opinion this is brought by the self-confidence Hufflepuff's have in their abilities. They don't show off, but they know what they can do. And to me, each Hufflepuff has self-confidence.
Ravenclaws are considered to be the 'smart' house... so they probably learn quickly. Smarts alone is not a reason to put someone in Ravenclaw. Slytherin, for example, is also a house of intelligence and wit and eloquence, and Hufflepuff's are intelligent as well (hard-working!). The Gryffindors are also intelligent. In school, everyone is there to learn, to become more smart, so bunching the intelligent ones up in a house would be counter-productive. Hermione was smart and so was Lily Evans, but both were in Gryffindor. I think Ravenclaws are curious, constantly learning, going their own way and romantic.
